Judging List Criteria

Inclusion on any of the Club’s judging lists are subject to the candidate completing the Club’s Judges Application & Questionnaire and meeting the stated criteria. It is at the discretion of The Jack Russell Terrier Clubs Judges Sub-Committee who reserve the right to refuse an application. Even if a judge fulfils the required criteria it does not guarantee automatic inclusion on any of the Club’s judging lists.

1. A1 list

For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have the support of the Jack Russell Terrier Club.

REQUIREMENTS: Not applicable as the breed does not have CC status at present

 

2. A2 List

For persons who fulfill all the requirements for the A3 list. Who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements, accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 List and have the support of the Jack Russell Terrier Club.

REQUIREMENTS: Not applicable as the breed does not have CC status at present

 

3. A3 List Requirements for Breed Specialist

3.1 Judging Experience   

Candidates must have a minimum of 7 YEARS judging experience.

3.2 Seminars

3.2.1 Candidates must have attended 1 Teaching Seminar, the subject of which was the  Jack Russell Terrier.

3.2.2 Candidates must have attended a Jack Terrier Breed seminar in accordance with the relevant KC Code of Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

3.2.3 Candidates must have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.

3.2.4 Candidates must have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer on Confirmation and Movement.

3.3 Shows Judged

Candidates should have judged 1 Jack Terrier Club Show or classes for the breed, without Challenge Certificates, at 2 Championship Shows. Note special consideration will be given by the committee, to those classes at Primary Terrier Shows and Supported Entry Shows.

3.4 Classes Judged

Candidates must have judged 10 classes in the breed.

3.5 Dogs Judged

Candidates must have judged a minimum of 40 Jack Russell Terriers.

3.6 Stewarding

Candidates must have stewarded for a minimum period of three years and twelve shows (KC Policy)

3.7 Candidates must have demonstrated successful showing experience and/or breeding programme. Save in exceptional circumstances, any first time candidate is expected to have been an owner or breeder of a least three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the studbook.

 

3.8 A2 List Requirements for Non Breed Specialist

3.8.1 In the case of non-specialists the same minimum criteria will apply but the Judge’s Sub Committee will take into consideration a non-specialist’s experience within other Breeds.

3.8.2 Non-specialists must award Challenge Certificates in another breed, ideally a terrier breed.

 

4. B List Requirements for Breed Specialist

4.1 Interest in Breed.

Candidates must have been actively involved in the breed for a minimum of 5 years.

4.2 Seminars

Candidates must have attended 1 teaching seminar, the subject of which was the Jack Russell Terrier.

4.2.1 Candidates must have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures

4.2.2 Candidates must have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer on Confirmation and Movement.

4.3 Numbers of Shows Judged Candidates must have judged the breed in at least 3 Open Shows.

4.4 Number of Classes Judged Candidates must have judged a minimum of 5 classes in the breed.

4.5 Number of Dogs Judged Candidates must have judged a minimum of 15 Jack Russell Terriers.

 

4.6 B List Requirements for Non-Specialist

4.6.1 Candidates must comply with the above requirements (4.2 to 4.5).

4.6.2 Candidates must be on the A or B list of their own breed.

 

5. C List

5.1 Interest in the Breed Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have had an interest in the breed for a minimum of 2 years.

5.2 Seminars Candidates must have attended 1 Teaching Seminar, the subject of which was the Jack Russell Terrier.

5.2.1 Candidates must have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures

Please note: Where if is felt that an applicant would be an asset to one of the Judge’s Lists of the Club the Committee may, at its discretion, include the name of the applicant on the relevant List.

A Candidate’s application to be included on the Club’s List of Judges must reach the Secretary by 6th Jan each year.  Any updating to the C.V. of a judge who has been on a list for the current year must also reach the Secretary by 6th Jan.
